Joy to the World

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, is proud to present the first concert of the year on Tuesday 07 January 2025, at 12:30pm. Held at the magnificent Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta, this concert promises a captivating start to the New Year. The programme features inspiring soprano Mardy Farrugia, accompanied by talented pianist Elaine Mercieca. Together, they will perform a selection of classical masterpieces, including Antonio Vivaldi’s “Domine Deus”, Vincenzo Bellini’s “Almen se non poss’io” and Gabriel Faure’s “Nell” among others. This exquisite repertoire blends sacred music, operatic beauty and romantic charm wonderfully. The thoughtfully curated programme includes “Autumn Evening” by R. Quilter, S. Barber’s “Sure on this Shining Night” as well as “Allerseelen” by R. Strauss. Additionally, Elaine Mercieca will perform the mezmerizing “Concert in D minor, BWV 947:II. Adagio”, a work by J.S. Bach. The recital concludes with a trio of beloved arias, “Vedrai, carino” by W.A. Mozart, G. Donizetti’s “Convien partir” and “O mio babbino caro” by G. Puccini.
