TIMELESS TREASURES: Heritage and Nature

TIMELESS TREASURES: Heritage and Nature in Malta, Arts/Culture Malta, 1.11.2024 - 1.11.2024

Description:

In a world increasingly consumed by rapid development and urban sprawl, "Timeless Treasures: Heritage and Nature" offers a poignant reflection on the profound transformations taking place in Malta. This solo exhibition by Vania Goshe is a heartfelt tribute to the island's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, now under threat from modern progress. HERITAGE Through a series of evocative paintings, the artist captures the essence of a Malta that is slowly fading from view. The exhibition celebrates traditional seascapes, landscapes and venerable architecture, which are constantly overshadowed by the relentless luxury yacht marinas and high-rise buildings. The once unobstructed views of historic churches are continuously being obscured by towering constructions, creating a sense of disconnection and disorientation among the island's inhabitants. The serene countryside and the natural landscapes that once defined Malta's charm are being replaced by concrete jungles. Amidst this turmoil, the artist's works offer a sanctuary of nostalgia . They are a vivid reminder of the fields, trees, and vibrant flowers that once dotted the landscape, of the old houses with their unique Maltese balconies, and of the tranquil, azure waters navigated by the luzzu. NATURE Other hand how much more beautiful the country will be with more flowers! The exhibition " Nature" offers a poignant reflection on the transformation of our natural landscapes. As urbanization continues to claim vast expanses of green spaces, the exhibition underscores a crucial message: the beauty of nature is being confined to vases and pots within our homes, as the natural floral landscape succumbs to the demands of modern development. This exhibition captures the essence of a world where the joy of nature is experienced through imported and cultivated flowers, providing a stark contrast to the once vibrant, indigenous flora that adorned our countryside. The artist invites viewers to contemplate the future, where the connection to nature is increasingly mediated by commercial transactions and confined within the walls of our homes. The exhibition opens on Friday,1st November at 7:00pm onwards and will run from1st November till 23rd November. Opening Hours: Weekdays-7:00am till 2:30pm Saturdays-9:00am till noon Venue: GEMELLI Art Gallery, Ta'Qali Crafts Village, Attard
