The Nutcracker

Teatru Manoel presents Moveo Dance Company’s original rendition of ‘The Nutcracker’, which merges the magic of choreography with Tchaikovsky’s memorable music. This classic story is brought to life in a contemporary dance performance which is sure to create memorable moments for everyone.

The Nutcracker was the last of the three ballets composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and was first performed in December 1892 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The story of The Nutcracker is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann fantasy story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. In this ballet we will meet Clara, the Mouse King, the Nutcracker Prince, the snowflakes, the dolls that come to life, the Arabian and Russian dancers, the merlitons and of course the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The Nutcracker has become the most frequently performed of all ballets and has served as an introduction to classical music for many young people. Teatru Manoel is proud to bring Moveo Dance Company’s fresh interpretation of the ballet to the stage in an unmissable Christmas performance for the whole family!
