Safeguarding the Human Rights of Older Persons - Innovations in Healthy and Active Ageing
Description:
Join us on November 28th for an important conference addressing one of Malta's most pressing challenges: the ageing population.
Over the past three decades, Malta, like many countries worldwide, has witnessed a significant increase in the number of older adults. This trend is expected to accelerate in the coming years, bringing both new opportunities and challenges.
To proactively prepare for these profound societal shifts, the Maltese Government has introduced National Strategic Policies for Active Ageing and Dementia Care, along with National Standards for Care Homes for Older Persons.
This conference, organised by Healthmark and the International Institute on Ageing (INIA), United Nations-Malta, will serve as a dynamic platform for Maltese stakeholders—ranging from government officials to civil society representatives—to come together and discuss how we can safeguard and enhance the human rights of older persons, particularly in the context of active and healthy ageing.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with representatives from the United Nations, the European Union, and other international bodies.
Keynote talks will be given by Lisa Warth, Chief of the Population Unit within the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and Prof. Alexiei Dingli, from the University of Malta's AI department, who will explore groundbreaking topics such as AI senior companions.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping the future of ageing in Malta.
