Dario Fo’s Classic Farcical Hit ‘Accidental Death Of An Anarchist’ To Hit The Stage With An All-Female Cast

Masquerade is bringing the criminally comical Accidental Death of an Anarchist, the famous cold case written back in the 70s, to the local stage this November. The play, adapted and directed by Ian Moore, has been given a female twist. It will be led by some of our funniest local actresses, including Pia Zammit, Antonella Axisa, Louiselle Vassallo, Maria Caruana, Gabriella Mendes and Samantha Gauci. The absurd classic, written by the Nobel Prize-winning Italian playwright Dario Fo, tells the story of the death of a suspected anarchist who falls from the fourth floor of a police station window. Only one person can solve the mystery as to whether Pinelli jumped or was pushed, and that person happens to be a certified lunatic who is a pro at impersonation. This classic farce, veiled with a bold political statement, has never been performed in Malta. With his all-female cast, Moore hopes to give the adaptation a fresh perspective when it comes to the battle between the individual and the establishment.
