Remarkable pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa will taking music lovers on a unique musical journey to Spain when she performs at a fund raising concert at St. Augustine’s Monastery in Valletta on the 21st May 2019 at 12 pm. The concert Ole` - Spanish Dances is an exciting performance which will put a spotlight on the Enrique Granados’ Danzas Espanolas. Granados, who is also sometimes known as ‘the poet of the piano’ or ‘Chopin of Spain’, was one of Spain’s most important composers and his piano works were so full of passion and virtuosity. Ramona’s recital will focus on a selection of eight of the twelve charming piano pieces, namely, Galante, Orientale, Fandango, Andaluza, Rondalla Aragonese, Romantica, Melancolica and Bolero. The eight danzas, encompassing a fiery Spanish-style, are passionate and flamboyant, promising a truly exciting and thrilling experience. Patrons will be taken to a guided free visit to the interesting chambers of the monastery which are adorned with interesting historical sacred ornaments which is being offered after the concert. Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration project of the Augustinian Monastery. Tickets, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins.
