RITUAL

The third instalment of the Regional Concert Series, RITUAL, combines the architecture of the Mnajdra megalithic complex with an exclusive recital of music archaeology and contemporary repertoire. Taking place once at sunset and once at sunrise, the concert will see Scottish trombonist John Kenny tracing the evolution of the trombone through its predecessors, including a seashell and a replica of the Celtic war horn, ‘carnyx’. RITUAL is also a unique opportunity for audiences to celebrate the summer solstice at a UNESCO World Heritage Site. RITUAL is part of Modern Music Days, which is organised by Teatru Manoel, the Malta Association for Contemporary Music, and the Valletta 2018 Foundation as part of the culture programme of Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture. This concert is being organised in collaboration with Heritage Malta.
