The second instalment of the Regional Concert Series will take audiences into one of Malta’s lesser-known art galleries to experience a portrait of avant-garde piano pieces that stretches almost 100 years of repertoire. The Victor Pasmore Gallery, which inhabits a 1640s-gunpowder magazine within Valletta’s outer fortification walls, will be a canvas for one of Malta’s foremost pianist, Tricia Dawn Williams, as she navigates through uncharted waters to depict a new profile for the instrument. In this unique recital, the piano is presented within an interdisciplinary context, featuring motion-capture technology, electronic music, video-art and an extraordinary assortment of ‘inside-the piano’ effects, which the audience will be able follow and appreciate via live camera projection. TRANSITION is part of Modern Music Days, which is organised by Teatru Manoel, the Malta Association for Contemporary Music, and the Valletta 2018 Foundation as part of the culture programme of Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture. This piano recital has been organised with the support and collaboration of Central Bank Malta, Fondazzjoni Pattrimonju Malti and The Victor Pasmore Gallery.
