On Friday the 15th of April, MEP Marlene Mizzi will be hosting an event entitled:’’ Women's Rights in 2016: Are we there yet?’’.
This event will be held at the Embassy Cinemas, Valletta. Entrance is free but tickets are on a first come first served basis and must be collected from Embassy Cinemas before the 15th April. Bookings on 21222 225.
The event will feature around the screening of the film, the 2015 LUX Prize winner, and Oscar nominee Mustang, preceded by a debate on the subject. A number of speakers, experts on the subject will participate in the debate , including the Hon. Dr Helena Dalli Minister for Social Dialogue and other speakers Mustang, directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven tells the real story of five young Turkish sisters on the challenges they face growing up in a conservative society. This file is particularly relevant in the light of the current EU negotiations with Turkey; the discussion will focus on what is the European Union doing for women’s rights in 2016 and beyond. The film is in Turkish, with English subtitles.
