Here we come again!

UPSTART PRODUCTIONS DRAMA COMPANY, five years under the Producer-Director JANE ZAMMIT, has been recognized now for its versatility of productions in English or Maltese, and for comedy or drama. This time we are bringing you an extraordinary play in English by American playwright BOB RANDALL, which he also adapted to the screen in an award winning 1994 film. “DAVID’S MOTHER,” based upon a grippingly true story, also is a well-crafted comedy, which combines both laughter and pain in equal doses: particularly in the bravura and often un-subtle humour of its protagonist, but also in the humour and pathos for those trying to cope with David’s mother.

At first glance, the play seems to have a simple plot, but it is as emotional and demanding for the audience as it is for its eight sensitive actors. Rich in texture, the story develops sympathetically between the past and the present of its multifaceted characters, whose lives are transformed in the situation. You are in for an unusual treat as our talented and dynamic cast vividly brings this dramatic story to life.
