Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival

The XIth edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival organized by Inizjamed will be held on Thursday 25th, Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August, at Fort St Elmo, in Valletta, at 8.00pm. This year’s guest authors are Samantha Barendson (France), Roja Chamankar (Iran), Joe P. Galea (Malta), Rodolfo Häsler (Cuba/Spain), Elias Khoury (Lebanon), Ciwanmerd Kulek (Kurdistan/Turkey), Daniel Massa (Malta), Marc Nair (Singapore), Abderrahim Sail (Morocco), Rita Saliba (Malta), Mark Vella (Malta) and Abigail Ardelle Zammit (Malta). The festival also features Maltese films through the “Poetry on Film” project by Valletta 2018 Foundation and Inizjamed, foreign poetry films by Highlight Arts and the Oslo Film Festival, two Maltese jazz and alternative music bands, namely Effie Azzopardi and Francesca Galea, a book stall selling books by this year’s authors and another by Glen Calleja and his hand-made books, and food and drinks by Ġugar. The 11th edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival, together with the Literature Across Frontiers translation laboratory, are organised by Inizjamed as part of the Literary Europe Live project, co-financed by Creative Europe EU, and co-ordinated by the Literature Across Frontiers. The Festival is being supported by Arts Council Malta, Valletta 2018 Foundation, Heritage Malta, Għaqda tal-Malti – Università, and Highlight Arts. The Festival bears the EFFE quality seal. The entry is free of charge.
